About Us
Building Inclusive Communities since 1953, Community Living Peterborough is a non-profit organization that brings people with intellectual disabilities and their communities together. We provide supports and services to approximately 300+ children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families living in the city and county of Peterborough.
To ensure we are providing a consistent quality of supports for people, our Agency and qualified Outcomes Facilitators follow the Council for Quality & Leadership (CQL) Personal Outcome Measurement® standards. Personal Outcome Measures® is a tool used to measure a person's quality of life and support networks.
Our Mission
To inspire respect and equality for people with an intellectual disability by promoting: community knowledge, organizational excellence, and individual quality of life.
Our Vision
That all people live in a state of dignity, share in all elements of living in the community, and have the opportunity to participate effectively.
Our Membership with Community Living Ontario
Community Living Peterborough is an affiliate association of Community Living Ontario. Community Living Ontario and their membership of associations across the province are also part of the Canadian Association for Community Living.Together we belong to a world-wide advocacy network called Inclusion International. Community Living Ontario was started in 1953. It began with families who wanted the right for their children who had an intellectual disability to attend neighbourhood schools. Since then, the size of the organization and the focus of it's member associations, has increased considerably. The work of Community Living Ontario and it's member associations has moved well beyond the right to an education. We now work with communities to include people who have an intellectual disability in all aspects of community life.
