Community Living Peterborough volunteers honoured at Provincial Awards Ceremony

Community Living Peterborough, Peter Bascan, Jeff Leal, Peterborough M.P.P.Community Living Peterborough's Department of Volunteer Services proudly nominated the following people to be honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Award: Gerry Schweir, 20 years +; Bill Stack, 10 years +; Peter Bascan, 5 years +; and Laura Challice, Youth Award.

The Volunteer Service Award Ceremony is a way for the government of Ontario to recognize the millions of Ontarians who volunteer, and a way for individuals and organizations to ensure taht Ontario's volunteers receive the recognition they deserve.

On Wednesday May 13th, 2009 at the Trentwinds Conference Center in Peterborough, in a room full of 200+ volunteers from the area, Gerry, Bill, Peter, and Laura were recognized for their continuous years of commitment and service to Community Living Peterborough (CLP), and for helping build caring, inclusive communitites across Ontario. Community Living Peterborough's C.E.O., Jack Gillan, and Volunteer Services Coordinator, A.J. McNaught were present to witness the official cermony as the four dedicated CLP volunteers were presented with stylized trillium pins and personalized certificates by The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Michael Chan, and Peterborough M.P.P., Jeff Leal.

Note: 200+ volunteers from the City & County of Peterborough were in attendance. Youth volunteers (under the age of 24) are recognized for two or more years of continuous service. Adults are recognized for 5,10,15,20,25,30,40,50, or more years of continuous service. [Read more about the awards]
