Blueboxing@Trent, making a Difference at Trent’s 2010 Convocation

Convocation2010

June 2010 --- Denise Devlin, Outcomes Facilitator,Blueboxing at Trent & Fleming

Volunteers from Community Living worked with other green volunteers on campus to pull off a successful Water-Bottle-Free Convocation at this week’s 2010 Convocation.  Trent is committed to eliminating the use of commercial bottled water, so stations were set up and run by Blueboxing volunteers at the Information Table, and near the audience seating which provided tap water in recyclable cups to guests of Convocation.  Each graduate also received the gift of a stainless “Alumni” steel water bottle which was washed and filled by the volunteers with tap water for their use during the outdoor ceremony.

Blueboxing volunteers were especially excited to hand students their water bottle this year, as they new on a personal level many of the graduates. At least one student at every Convocation had volunteered with Blueboxing and as their procession made it’s way by the water station, there were many cheers and hugs!
