August 2010, Parkhill Community Home
With help from their Outcome Facilitators, a group of people supported by Community Living Peterborough, who share a home together, identified that they had a need for some funds to be able to purchase items for their apartments. They had a meeting and decided that it may be a good idea to have a yard sale. The staff supported this decision and assisted with gathering items to sell. It was a lot of work to co-ordinate the yard sale. Many of the staff donated items from their homes and all of them ended up purchasing items from the sale.

---Julianna Allen, April 2010 Hi, my name is Julianna Allen. I moved into my first affordable bachelor apartment on April 1st, 2009. It was a bitter-sweet experience, here’s my story: My dog Maple was getting sick in February of that year right around the same time as my Outcomes Facilitator told me about the affordable housing. On
February 20,2009I , unfortunately had to put my dog down. On February 23rd, Peterborough Housing came to visit me. They asked me “Do you have a dog?” and sadly I told them I had to put her down three days before they came. The good news was that I was offered a bachelor apartment two weeks after that. I fell in love with one on the third floor and after some discussion I decided to take it.
